Told to Be Brave, Never Shown How

“Don’t be scared.” “There’s nothing to worry about.” Adults say it often, but it doesn’t help when your hands are shaking and your heart is pounding.

Long ago, young people faced fears where the stakes were life and death. They didn’t simply feel the fear and push through. They discovered something they could do with it.

The River, the Anchor and the Fire

Each adventure reveals one part of The Courage Current: the River, the stillness to let fear flow past without drowning (from Japan); the Anchor, the connection that makes love heavier than terror (from Ghana); and the Fire, turning shaking hands into fuel (from Scotland).

Then come three practical exercises (the Stone Grip, the Anchor Breath and the Plaid Drop), cultural source notes, a quick-reference guide and the Code Keeper’s Mark ritual. “Brave people are terrified. The difference is not what they feel. It is what they do with the feeling.”

Why I Wrote The Courage Current

I’m Ujjwal Ganesh, father of two daughters. “Just be brave” never helped anyone I know. I wanted to give children something they could actually do when fear arrives, wrapped in stories worth remembering.

The Courage Current is Book 2 of Secrets Every Hero Knew, a series that teaches one timeless skill per book through young heroes from three cultures.
