Website planning, design and build

A website planned around what visitors need to do, then designed, built and launched with search and tracking in place.

Pretty does not pay the bills. A site that gets found and brings enquiries does.

This is for you if

  • Your site looks dated, is slow on phones, or embarrasses you in sales calls.
  • You're launching a new business, product line or market.
  • Nobody can change the current site without a developer.
  • You want one person to plan the site, run the build and protect your search traffic.
  • You've paid for a website before, and it never brought enquiries.

What you get

  1. A sitemap and page plan

Every page, its job, and the searches it should be found for, agreed before design starts.

  2. Wireframes for each unique page

Layout and content order, for mobile and desktop.

  3. Copy for the key pages

Written for the reader first and the search second, or edits to yours.

  4. Visual design in Figma

From your brand guide or a fresh look.

  5. The build

WordPress for most business sites, Laravel and PHP when the site needs custom features. Fast templates and pages your team can edit.

  6. SEO from day one

Clean URLs, titles, structured data, sitemaps, and redirects from the old site.

  7. Tracking that works

Forms, calls and key events in GA4, tested before launch.

  8. Launch and handover

Hosting, SSL and backups set up, plus a session so your team can run the site.

How it works

  1. Plan

Goals, visitors, competitors, then the sitemap and page plan.

  2. Wireframe

Structure first, no colours. You approve it before any design.

  3. Design

Visual design on the approved wireframes, mobile and desktop together.

  4. Build

Development, content, SEO setup and tracking.

  5. Test and launch

Real phones, slow connections, every form and every redirect. Then launch and handover.

Proof

A bank's website, built to last

I led the build of a small finance bank's website in early 2024, before its IPO. When a regulator later required a new domain, the structure we had built made the move manageable in 10 days. From January to June 2026, 92% of the site's Apply Now forms came from organic search.

A new B2B export website

Built in mid-2025 with technical SEO from the first day and a page for every product line. It went from 2 organic visits in its launch month to 594 a month by May 2026.

In recent years I have led 20+ website projects across banking, real estate, manufacturing, education and consumer brands.

What I won't do

  • Start with colours. Design waits until the sitemap and wireframes are agreed.
  • Launch without redirects and working tracking.
  • Hand over a site you can't edit. You get admin access, a training session and written notes.
  • Keep anything in my name. Domain, hosting and code belong to you.

Questions

WordPress or custom?

WordPress for most business sites: easy to edit and cheap to maintain. Laravel and PHP when you need custom logic, portals or integrations. I recommend one after the plan, not before.

Do you design, or only build?

Both, from one plan. For brand identity work such as a logo or brand guide, I bring in a designer I work with.

Who writes the content?

I plan it and write the key pages, or edit yours. On larger sites, a writer I work with joins the project.

Will we lose our Google traffic?

Not if the move is planned. Every old URL gets a redirect, checked before and after launch. See website migration SEO.

What happens after launch?

Website care if you want it: updates, backups and small fixes each month. Or your team takes over with the handover notes.

Do you use AI to build sites?

Yes, for research, first drafts, image concepts and code checks. It makes the work faster. A person reviews every page before it goes live.

Tell me what the site needs to do.

Not how it should look. What should a visitor be able to do, and what should happen next for your business?
